Behavioral Biometric Engine

Continuously and passively authenticate users from behavioral biometrics and drive risk-adaptive access decisions in real time.

**The problem**
Static authentication (passwords, one-time OTPs, even step-up MFA) verifies identity only at login and cannot detect account takeover, session hijacking, or bot activity that occurs afterward. Credential theft, session-token abuse, and automated fraud increasingly bypass point-in-time controls. Enterprises need continuous, passive identity assurance that confirms the legitimate user remains present throughout a session without adding friction.

**What you'll build**
Build a behavioral biometric engine that continuously models each user from passive signals — keystroke dynamics, mouse/touch gestures, device orientation, and interaction cadence — using ML to establish a per-user behavioral baseline and score real-time deviations. Feed anomaly scores into a risk-based, adaptive authentication flow (NIST 800-207 Zero Trust) that triggers step-up challenges or session termination on drift, and distinguish humans from bots. Emphasize privacy-preserving feature handling and drift adaptation as user behavior naturally changes.

**Objective** — Continuously and passively authenticate users from behavioral biometrics and drive risk-adaptive access decisions in real time.

**Expected outcome** — A behavioral biometrics engine (SDK + scoring API) that builds per-user baselines, detects anomalous sessions, and demonstrates continuous-authentication/step-up decisions with measured accuracy (FAR/FRR/EER).

**Difficulty** — Advanced — requires behavioral feature engineering, per-user anomaly modeling, drift handling, privacy controls, and integration into an adaptive auth flow.

**Innovation** — Improved Existing Solution / Startup Potential — behavioral biometrics is commercially established (BioCatch, TypingDNA), but privacy-preserving, on-device, adaptive implementations still offer differentiation and patentable methods. Scores: Innovation 7/10, Startup 8/10, Enterprise-Readiness 7/10, Patent = Possible.
